1. Principles of Six Sigma project selection

A: Potential impact on business and customers.

It is important to select projects that are truly beneficial to customers and business operations, and projects that will benefit both parties.

B: Satisfy the operational level and improve the quality objective aspects.

Such as net cost savings, DPMO, yield, etc., reduction of transaction processes, etc.

C: Projects that are organizationally and technically feasible.

Is the resource feasible, i.e. return on investment. Whether the project is too big, if too big, it can be split into several smaller projects, which should be appropriately scoped.

For the first Black Belt program, the difficulty of the program is moderate, making it easier to work and train, while a program that is too difficult is likely to fail.

D: DMAIC-eligible projects.

2 , Six Sigma project selection process

A: Sources of project ideas:

External sources: customer opinions, market reaction, competitor's situation, changes in laws and regulations, benchmarking, etc. Internal sources: company strategy, audit results, problems at work, etc.

B: Approach:

A combination of “top-down” and “bottom-up” approaches. That is to say, the leadership will propose a rough six Sigma projects based on the strategy and audit results, and the junior managers will combine the projects based on the problems to be solved in their daily work.

C: Program:

A written procedure for Six Sigma project selection needs to be set up so that the right choice of projects can be made across the company and confirmed by the relevant leaders for effective implementation.

In the selection of Six Sigma projects, the use of such a form can reduce the blindness, so that the Six Sigma project victory in the completion of a good foundation.
